- Question
- Where is the flattest, straightest stretch of pathway with the best quality asphalt? (I am a beginner)
- Answer
- Try the Martin Goodman Trail (West) between the Sunnyside Pavilion and the mouth of the Humber River, the Martin Goodman Trail (East) between Leslie and the Boardwalk) (one little hill) or either of the Hamilton routes.
- Question
- I will be staying in a downtown Toronto hotel. Where is the best place to skate?
- Answer
- You should probably make your way down to the waterfront and head west on the Martin Goodman Trail. If you are up by Bloor Street you could give the Rosedale Valley a try if it has not rained for a couple of days. The path starts at Rosedale Valley Road and Park Road and goes to Bayview Ave –with no stops. I have never skated this route but it looks acceptable.

- Question
- Why aren’t there any Mississauga skating routes on the site?
- Answer
- There are –but Mississauga is really just a part of Toronto!
- Question
- Ed –what do you think about the proposed mandatory helmet law for Ontario?
- Answer
- I think everyone should wear a helmet and wrist protection when skating outdoor (either on a highway or elsewhere). I am less sure that the government should make it mandatory. You have to wonder where it will all stop: wearing lifejackets on an ocean liner?; parachutes on jet planes? –or perhaps requiring joggers to wear helmets as well? Nevertheless, skaters should be required to don a helmet if they are skating on a roadway.
- Question
- Have people really written in with all of these questions?
- Answer
- No.-But most of them!
